How to connect and send data to Zapier

How to: Connect to Zapier

Last updated on: 12/09/2021

Mindstamp sends Webhooks to Zapier which allows you to connect interactive video data and analytics to a wide array of end-points.

Mindstamp Core customers can send View Webhooks which will include critical summary information about your video viewers, including contact information if you’re capturing it, percentage watched and view time statistics, and basic information about question participation and correctness.

Mindstamp Enterprise customers can send individual Webhooks for each interaction click (for instance a click on a button) or question answer that viewers provide within the interactive video.

Ready to get started?

Step 1 - Open “Webhooks by Zapier”

Download ‘Webhooks by Zapier’ Zap on Zapier.

Step 2 - Create a Zap

Step 3 - Select ‘Catch Hook’

Once you’ve created your Webhook by Zapier Zap, you’ll need to select the Trigger Event to ‘Catch Hook’. This will provide a destination where Mindstamp can send the Webhook event, and Zapier will be configured to receive it.

Step 4 - Copy the Custom Webhook URL

Click the Copy button next to Custom Webhook URL. This is where Mindstamp will send the information from your interactive video

Step 5 - Choose a video to connect

Return to Mindstamp with your copied link and open up the video you want to attach to Zapier.

Step 6 - Select “Integrations”

Once you’ve got the video open, navigate over to “Integrations.” Integration settings allow you to configure multiple different connections to Mindstamp, and are generally available on a per video or account-wide basis.

Step 7 - Test your Webhook

Scroll down until you find the “Webhooks” section. Here, you’ll click on the “Send View Webhooks” control and paste the URL you just copied from Zapier into the field that presents itself. Go ahead and click ‘Send Test’ to kick off a sample of your most recent view on the video. NOTE - If you don’t HAVE a view, you’ll need to create one before testing your Webhook.

Step 8 - Confirm test in Zapier

Now it’s time to see if Zapier received the information. Head back to Zapier and open the “Test Trigger” tab. You’ll see a notification like the one above indicating that Zapier successfully received the test event. Regular events will send about 2 minutes after your video completes viewing your interactive video.

Step 9 - Choose how to map the information in Zapier.

Like most Zapier configurations, you can then take the information Mindstamp sends and map them to the destination on Zapier. In the example above, each view event on Mindstamp will create a unique row in Google Sheets. Once you’ve chosen your endpoint and configured it to your liking, you can proceed to press “Create Zap” on Zapier, and “Save Changes” on Mindstamp. Just like that, you’ve got the power of your interactive video data anywhere you want!
